Welcome to the home of the YMCA of Superior California's Capitol Coalition Delegations.
We represent Sacramento, El Dorado Hills, and Nevada County in the YMCA's Model Legislature & Court Program.
Why Y&G?
We're growing the next generation of civically engaged Californians. We want our delegates to grow up to be:
Voters
Voting is fundamental to democracy. Our alumni register and vote at higher rates than the state or national average.
Who are active in their communities
Communities are stronger when more voices are included in decisionmaking and policy setting. 45% of program alumni attend local board or council meetings compared to 14% generally and 36% serve on community boards compared to 3% generally.
Who read a newspaper
Informed citizens have the tools they need to affect change. In a radically evolving media landscape, media literacy skills are essential to preserving democracy.
And who value servant leadership
A servant-leader focuses primarily on the growth and well-being of people and the communities to which they belong. We want our delegates to model servant leadership themselves and to evalute those who want to lead them through a lens of their own values.
